Victor Kipchirchir Rotich became the first person to successfully defend their Eldoret City Marathon crown by winning the men's 42.195KM race in a time of 2:13:10. Rotich run a strategic race from the start to the end after being part of a leading pack that gradually reduced as the race drew closer to the end before ultimately applying a surge of pace to split from the rest of the leading group with around 7 kilometers of the race remaining. Rotich was delighted to win particularly because he had been nursing an injury before the race. He run a race that was about 5 minutes slower than what he run in 2021 (2:08:56). He attributed this to a windy day, which slowed down the athletes. Rotich walked away with a KES 3.5 Million winner's prize.
