Eldoret City Marathon 3rd Edition to be Held on 6th June 2021

A new date for Eldoret City Marathon 3rd Edition was announced on 6th May by the Governor of Uasin Gishu County, H.E. Hon. Jackson Arap Mandago. While announcing 6th June 2021 as the new date, the governor called for athletes to run clean and avoid the temptation to use performance-enhancing drugs as intensive tests by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) would weed out the cheats. The governor noted that chipped bib numbers and a new electronic timing system would allow the finishing times of athletes to be officially recognized by Athletics governing bodies, including Athletics Kenya and World Athletics. As potentially the only major marathon to be held in Kenya before the Olympics, the governor called for Athletics Kenya to take advantage of the new timing system to identify Kenyan representatives to the Olympics. The marathon's director, Moses Tanui, reported that the organizing committee was ready to hold the marathon in strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.
